Wald International provides a body kit for the modification of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in this period, the S55 version of the AMG. Although the changes are not significant, they are only oriented to appearance rather than higher engine performance and more dramatic style features compared to factory standards. The S55 is equipped with a V8 engine, almost 5.5 liters in particular. The initial model had a natural aspiration version with 355 hp (265 kW; 360 PS), and starting in 2003, he switched to a supercharged version with 493 hp (368 kW; 500 PS).
Additional power enhancements come for the S55 model from pairing this engine with a supercharger. A supercharger is a forced induction system that presses the air before entering the engine, and uses an air compressor powered by a belt connected to the engine. The engine peak output on the S55 is 493 hp (368 kW; 500 PS) and torque of 516 lb⋅ft (700 N⋅m). Modifications include enhanced brakes and wheels, with 14.2-inch front discs and 13-inch discs at the rear. S55 is also equipped with Active Body Control. The supercharged S55 model has a Compressor (Mercedes-Benz) badge on the side.
