As an aftermarket, Wald International launched a body kit for 2007 Mercedes-Benz. CL-Class was officially launched at the end of June 2006 at Paris Salon. C216 does not have a B-pillar that interferes with the slender curves of the side windows. The two-door coupe weighs 2,045 kg (4,508 lb), heavier than the equivalent S sedan. Despite its large size, the rear seat space is limited to maintaining the luxury 2 + 2 coupé tradition, although the CL has more rear passenger space than its competitors. CL stem is as big as the flagship sedan of the Audi A8.
The C216 uses the Distronic Plus cruise control, which debuted in the 2007 S-Class. This system can make the car stop completely, and accelerate again to a predetermined speed, to maintain a predetermined distance from the car in front of it. This Mercedes-Benz CL has also debuted with the new Active NightVision program that allows the driver to see the conditions in front of the car even though the surrounding environment is dark.
In 2007, 40 units of C216 CL 65 AMG were sold as the 40th Commemorative Edition, to celebrate the establishment of AMG 40 years earlier. In terms of performance, the ’40th Anniversary Edition’ is a special CL 65 AMG. Changes to the car include the ‘ONE OUT OF 40’ badge near the COMAND controller, special coatings and roof coatings, and ‘AMG Alubeam’ special paint coatings. Apart from the 40th Anniversary Edition of CL 65 AMG.
