GS is an introductory model for the new L-finesse design philosophy at the marque, which shows the future direction of the Lexus ranks. For this reason, WALD INTERNATIONAL displays fastback profiles, fixed quad headlights, LED tailamps, one-piece bumpers, new wheel wheels and interior design changes.
In the 2006 edition of BODY KIT, GS still uses a 3.5 liter 2GR-FSE engine with D4-S direct injection and 4.3UZ-FE 4.3 liter V8 engine. All GS models use the new six-speed automatic sequential shift gearbox. All wheel drive systems are available at GS 300.
The GS 450h hybrid can be upgraded using the 2006 edition of BODY KIT. The GS Hybrid is the first mass-produced luxury rear wheel hybrid, featuring a 3.5 liter 2GR-FSE V6 engine mated to an electric motor and continuous variable transmission (CVT). This motor uses a Lexus Hybrid Drive system that integrates an electric motor and gasoline engine, gives the GS 450h Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) emission rating, and a total output of 253 kW (339 hp), allowing the GS to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0–97 km / h) in 5.2 seconds, according to the manufacturer’s data.
What’s new in the GS range is the power power steering (EPS) system, and the V8 and hybrid models featuring variable gear ratio steering (VGRS) and Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB) systems, a type of brake-by-wire system. The V8 and hybrid models also feature an adaptive suspension system that individually changes the suspension tension of the damper. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is standard on the GS 430, 460 and 450h models and is combined with VGRS, which can change the steering wheel ratio. Third-generation GS interior (GWS191), with hybrid kilowatt meters instead of tachometers and G-Book navigation.
